Mish Mash #16: Faux Stone

Ever since the mish mash themes have been posted I knew what I wanted to attempt  this week. And you know what? For once in the mish mash lifetime I managed to get my nail art perfect on my very first attempt. If only weather was better my pics would be so much prettier. But I bet you can see how gorgeous this nail art is even with my poor photos. The technique I am talking about is the water spotted, and I wanted to create a turquoise stone with it. If you google turquoise two different colours show up. I did both, you tell me which one you like best. For the water spotted I used NYC Autumn in NY which is an amazing dark olive green. I will need to swatch it alone because it’s gorgeous. First up is Sally Hansen Model Behavior as the base. I actually needed a tad lighter shade which I realized I don’t have. Will fix that soon.

Quando ho visto per la prima volta i temi di questa mish mash sapevo già cosa avrei provato a fare questa settimana. E sapete una cosa? Una volta tanto mi è uscita al primo tentativo! Se solo il tempo fosse un po’ migliore le foto sarebbero molto più belle. Cmq sono sicura che saprete capire che bellissimo effetto ho ottenuto anche se sono scure! La tecnica che ho voluto provare si chiama water spotted e quello che volevo ottenere è la pietra turchese. Se googlate “turchese” (inteso come pietra grezza) vi usciranno due colori distinti. Ho provato entrambi e sarete voi a dirmi quale preferite. Per la water spotted ho usato il NYC Autumn in NY, che è un bellissimo verde oliva scuro. Dovrò farvelo vedere da solo perchè merita.   M andiamo avanti, la prima base è il Sally Hansen Model Behavior. In realtà mi serviva qualcosa di un pelo più chiaro, ma mi sono accorta di non avere niente di adatto (rimedierò, statene certi).

La seconda base è il Layla Thermo Polish Effect N.1 che ho postato l’altro giorno. E se ve lo state chiedendo, sì, il colore ha continuato a cambiare anche sotto la water spotted e il top coat.

Which one do you prefer? And isn’t it just amazing? I am totally in love with the look and I just don’t want to remove this masterpiece from my nails!
